Founder and CEO
Matthew Graham, CEO and Managing Partner of Sino Global Capital, provides the long-term strategic vision for the Fund and is the ultimate authority on investment and other strategic decisions for the Fund. Matthew is based in Beijing and has been living and working in China for more than ten years. He founded Sino Global Capital in 2015, initially as a sell-side tech investment banking platform with a focus on representing international technology companies in China for strategic partnership and investment. Matthew has been involved in Bitcoin since 2013, unsuccessfully pitching a large telecom client on a Bitcoin phone concept while in his capacity as managing director for international business at the technology focused investment bank China Bridge Capital.
Chief of Staff
Dermot McGrath co-founded Sino Global Capital with Matthew Graham in 2015. He is the team’s Chief of Staff and participates heavily in deal sourcing, investment strategy and post-investment portfolio support. Dermot previously worked at HNA Technology, a major China-based Fortune 500 company, where he led project commercialization and fundraising at their New Technology Research Institute. Dermot received his bachelor degree from University College Dublin in 2013 and spent an exchange semester at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He also studied Mandarin at the Beijing Language and Culture University and can speak and read Mandarin Chinese fluently.
COO and Head of Investment
Ian Wittkopp started at Sino Global Capital in mid-2017 and has led the investment team in 50+ deals spanning token and equity in key verticals like DeFi, GameFi and crypto adjacent infrastructure. As COO, Ian overseas all team components daily across four continents as they produce best in class research, evaluate 100+ projects per week, and provide top-tier post investment support. Previously, Ian spent six years as an economist and budget analyst at the Bureau of Labor Statistics in Washington, DC. At the BLS he worked on inflationary indexes in the Producer Price Index program before moving to the budget office and overseeing day-to-day execution of a USD $600M+ annual budget. He also led special projects including a ten-person team that worked with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to establish a joint survey on small business credit conditions. Ian also spent time as a product manager for an insurtech start-up, Bowtie Life Insurance. At Bowtie he led the launch of a digital microinsurance product that aimed to increase coverage among foreign workers from the Philippines and Indonesia who moved to Hong Kong for employment. Ian received his bachelor’s degree from the American University in Washington, D.C. and his MBA from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Chief Strategy Officer

An advocate for the development of technology in the service of thriving, opportunity, and dignity for all peoples, Mona is the MENA region ambassador of the Global Blockchain Business Council, the Center for Democracy and Technology, and is an advisor to the Milken-Motsepe Prize for innovation in food and agriculture.
General Counsel and Head of Investor Relations
Patrick Loney came in-house at Sino Global Capital in August 2021 after serving as SGC’s outside legal counsel for five years. Patrick’s responsibilities include serving as head lawyer for the Fund, leading fundraising efforts and serving as the Fund LPs’ primary point of contact. In his seven years living in China, Patrick worked in the legal, financial advisory and trade industries. From 2014 to 2021, Patrick served primarily Asian legal clients on cross-border M&A, securities compliance and financings. From 2015 to 2018, Patrick was Associate Director and General Counsel of Paragon Partners Asia, a Shanghai-based merchant bank. At Paragon, Patrick sourced foreign investment opportunities for Chinese investors and assisted with legal issues related to cross-border investment transactions. During the outbreak of the global Covid-19 pandemic, Patrick formed Mintwood DML, a crossborder personal protective equipment (PPE) trading company. From March to December 2020, Mintwood DML sold $5 million+ in PPE to hospitals and governments located in the United States and India. Prior to moving to China in 2014, Patrick was a corporate attorney at the Seattle office of K&L Gates and served as a legislative aide to U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA). Patrick received his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law and was a member of the executive board of the Washington Law Review. He is licensed to practice law in the state of Washington.
Haru manages certain relationships for SGC in the APAC region and assists with strategic planning in local APAC markets for the Fund’s portfolio. Haru is a serial entrepreneur and investor from the Greater China region and has worked in the crypto and blockchain industry since 2015. She has invested in numerous, successful projects built on Ethereum.
Head of Research
Ben is the Head of Research at Sino Global Capital and focuses primarily on conducting research on the underlying technology behind prospective investments, as well as providing infrastructure support e.g. running validator nodes for portfolio companies where applicable. He was introduced to programming at age eleven and spent his early high school years playing with linux machines and working on miscellaneous programming projects in his free time. By junior year (2018) he was working as a part-time full-stack developer at a local technology company. He used the associated wages to invest in crypto assets with a fundamentals-driven tech-first approach. Prior to dropping out of college, Ben was on a double major track in applied mathematics and economics at the University of Utah. During his freshman and sophomore years, he interned at a consumer tech growth equity firm, where he found his passion for thesis-driven early stage venture capital. At the beginning of his junior year (senior by credits) he dropped out of university to pursue crypto full time.
Wei Han Chin
Head of Gaming
Wei Han Chin focuses on Web 3 gaming which composes roughly 20% of Liquid Value Fund I’s portfolio. Additionally, he supports existing portfolio companies with advice on tokenomics, growth strategies, and product features. Previously, Wei Han spent six years as a product manager in the fintech industry in Malaysia. Prior to Sino Global Capital, he worked in Boost, the fintech arm of Axiata Digital that unifies financial services spanning payments, AI-based alternative lending, digital insurance, cross border content services and merchant solutions. Focusing on payments, he reduced cash-in costs by 8-10% and reduced fraudulent chargebacks by 99%. He also helped build and launch a joint government initiative feature within Boost to distribute ~$12.5USD via the Boost e-wallet to ~15 million Malaysians. Wei Han graduated from Monash University, majoring in Economics and Finance.
Senior Investment Associate
Hans Xiang is a Senior Investment Associate at Sino Global Capital with a special focus on emerging developments within the DeFi industry. Adopting a multichain vision, Hans deal sources innovative key primitive solutions that accelerate the growth of crypto, while amplifying the composability and interconnectivity within layer 1 base infrastructures. Conducting due diligence around the team, underlying product and roadmap is a key part of his investment process. Besides emphasizing primary market deals, Hans invests significant time in assisting incumbent portfolio companies with accelerating their growth in the industry they are tapping into. Before joining SGC, Hans was at CGI, researching the opportunities of using both public and private blockchain solutions in real estate and other industries. During his six-month internship at Havi Travel in Shanghai, he was exploring the possibilities of leveraging emerging technologies such as IoT and AI to automate purchasing and sales processes within the firm. Growing up in a multilingual environment, Hans was able to adapt rapidly to a new environment and solve complex problems using his Western and Eastern perspectives. Hans received his BSc in Finance and Control from The Hague University of Applied Sciences and an MSc in FinTech (Distinction) from The University of Glasgow.
Senior Investment Associate
Thomas Tang is a Senior Investment Associate at SGC and works predominantly on deal sourcing, due diligence and investment analysis in addition to supporting existing portfolio companies with tokenomics and strategy. He is SGC’s expert on DeFi structured products, on-chain options, and onchain trading infrastructure. He started his career in traditional finance, previously working at Citibank across multiple verticals including equity sales specialising in Chinese equities, credit underwriting for margin-backed securities financing and asset management at Citi Investment Management Hong Kong China Equities Fund. Thomas graduated from the London School of Economics with First-Class honors, majoring in Accounting and Finance.
India Strategy and Ops Lead
Vish is SGC’s Strategy and Operations Lead for India and has a deep understanding of the Indian crypto ecosystem. Vish is SGC’s specialist for NFTs and adjacent infrastructure. He has been an avid gamer since the age of 12 and web3 native since 2016. He is an original minter of the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT. Vish well known for his speaking on crypto regulations and crypto education in India.
Eric is SGC’s portfolio support lead and CeDeFi expert with a focus on DeFi infra, structured products, and products that bridge Web 2 and web3. Prior to SGC, Eric was a Product Strategist at Blackrock, partnering with portfolio managers to maintain and support the $2.6B AUM book of institutional index assets. Eric also worked at a decentralized exchange in 2018, conducting market research and developing strategies to onboard users to DeFi.
Wealth Management Advisor
Graduating from Shanghai Tongji University, Gaven has work experience at international blue chips like Sony, Chinese blue chips Tencent and Changyou, a subsidiary of Sohu, as well as entrepreneurial experience as a founder of a mobile internet gaming R&D company. He established BlockOrigin Fund in Singapore to invest in blockchain projects around the world.
